Instagram grid splitter

Split a single photo into tiles that line up perfectly across your Instagram profile. Everything happens in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Pick the photo you want to spread across your grid.
  2. Choose how many rows you want — 3 rows makes the classic 3x3.
  3. Drag the preview to reframe, then tap Get my tiles.
  4. Post them in filename order: 01 first, 09 last.

Questions people ask

Why do my grid tiles have lines between them on other sites?

Because most splitters still cut squares. Instagram's profile grid shows tiles in a 3:4 portrait shape now, so square tiles get cropped on the sides and the picture no longer lines up. This tool cuts for the real 3:4 shape and adds the hidden overlap on each side, so the seams disappear.

What order do I post the tiles in?

Start with the file named 01 and work up. Instagram fills your grid newest-first from the top left, so posting in reverse is what makes the picture come out the right way up. Post the whole set in one sitting.

Does my photo get uploaded?

No. The splitting happens in your own browser using your device's processor. Nothing is sent to a server, so nothing is stored anywhere.

What size are the tiles?

Each tile is exported at 1080 x 1350 pixels, which is Instagram's full-quality portrait size.
